Current Projects
Hello all,
A business associate of mine, Ray Thomas (American Speaker Systems, Futurecase) is the executive producer of a project called 3 Days in the Life which is a 10-hour, unfinished documentary of John Lennon (and Yoko Ono) that was filmed over three days in 1970 by Ono's former husband, Tony Cox. I'm happy to announce that I was chosen to be the music director for this groundbreaking film and two of my original "Lennon-esque", instrumental songs were placed in the movie. Stay tuned, more to come. (Original movie publicity stills from 3 Days in the Life below.)
I recently finished another music project. These largely instrumental songs are of the 90-seconds (or so) variety and will be available for such applications as musical beds for TV/film/commercial advertising/video game outlets. Pro Tools producer Dave Vernick and drummer Francis DeVito lent their time and effort to a number of songs in this collection. Some of these cuts are available through the Aircraft Music Library at indietrackslibrary.com. Click on: "I am looking for music". Keyword: Michael Hill (or "instrumental", "pop", or "rock").
As of this writing, I'm well into recording new solo Michael Hill material.
Jon Butcher is the Music Director for an independent film entitled Million Calorie March which is about the obesity problem in America. Yours truly has written 2 songs for the film and they will be included in the movie's soundtrack. (Jon (on the left) and yours truly below.)
Noted music lawyer Ron Bienstock has selected my pop and country western flavored song “Baby Blues” to be part of a new compilation CD that Mr. Bienstock’s company is manufacturing and distributing.
I am also shopping material that I recorded with the late John Kalishes who was the former band leader for Rick Danko (The Band) and Ben Orr (The Cars). I co-wrote, co-produced and sang the majority of the lyrics on this collection of songs called Mirage. Some of these cuts (in fact, perhaps the entire production) could be perfect music for an as yet unknown and perhaps as yet unwritten film soundtrack. (Me and Kalishes (on the right) below.)
Business associate Andy Hooker (from the days of Boston's Johanna Wild band) - who is now a noted Marketing Consultant and a member of several FL Veteran’s Organizations - continues to work with me to promote my music career through his many business contacts, his unbelievable energy and his tireless devotion to the idea of a Michael Hill music empire. Andy has been instrumental in singing the praises of my song entitled “These Days” which was written in support of the men and women in the armed forces and their families. Andy and I are planning to create a not-for-profit Foundation to raise awareness about vets and their loved ones called the “These Days” Foundation.
Joey Molland from Badfinger (on the left) and moi below when Joey was in Boston not too long ago. He’s probably the closest thing I’ll ever get to a Beatle – other than the Lennon movie - in my lifetime. He was a nice bloke too!)
Thanks for stopping by. Please visit again in a little bit and I'll try to have some updates for y'all.
- Michael
